My Diary Game: MANAGING A FRUSTRATING DAY - 1/11/2025
Shot from Samsung - Arriving for the Examination
Another wonderful day I wish to share with us. I have never witnessed hours of frustration, but you have nobody to blame. That's the story of my 1 November. I needed to relax my mind before using my keyboard to communicate with Steemians. This will encourage someone who may, by circumstance, be faced with the same realities tantamount to my day.
Every 1st day of the month in our church is fixed for “Fresh Anointing.” A short worship and prayer to thank God for the new month and also surrender the beginning of the month into His gracious and protecting hands. Such services are done in early hours. Ours was at 6am. I quickly left the house for the service.
The night before, I did not sleep for up to 2 hours due to an international examination to be certified as an “Information Technology Specialist.” I enrolled in a tech hub for graphic design and web development in October 2024. We have written a series of tests, the Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN) examination, the boot campcamp, and mock tests. This one was to be the international certification to follow in that order.

We were briefed on the importance of the exams and the cut off mark. I spent the whole night, weighing a Victorious war against nature (sleep). I say, I won just like Jacob in the Bible who held the angel for his blessings. There was hard work, resilience and strength to read to pass the benchmark.
I went to the venue like any other person with hope that we have finally gotten to the root of this training. Many who started had given up, some negatively concluded that we are going nowhere. As for me, I learned endurance and persistence and perseverance in anything I am involved in. I am a result oriented personality, seeing things to its ending is not new to me no matter the twist, I don't easily retreat nor surrender. I got to the facility before 8am when the examination was scheduled to start. When I saw our trainers, those without tirelessly and with serious interest in molding the future of the young people through their tech hub, I was happy. These people are very good at what they do, but this international certification examination was not in their control. All they did was to train us, and make us fully ready for the exams.
We were Almost Ready | Power Outage |

We waited until 10am while the external invigilators were screening the candidates in batches, tick get, NIN and other means of identification checked. The process of the screening took another 2 hours. By 12 noon, hunger was knocking on the door but since we are yet to write the examination, one could either ignore hunger or negotiate until the exams are over. I could feel that no one at that time had its time.
WHERE THE FRUSTRATION STARTED
We were called in but something different was discovered, the internet connection broke down, after they sacrificed the whole night to fix for the exams the next day. This was where the frustration began. Some systems were connected while some were not. I could feel for the technicians who disconnected and started all over to fix them. By 2pm they were still working to restore connections, other experts were contacted to fasten the process.
When about 90% of the systems accessed the internet, the invigilators remembered that they are not with the examination logins and voucher for each candidate to access the exams.
Facilitators Addressing us to Remain calmed | We are Leaving the Exams Venue |

At 3:30pm, our facilitators called us and had a heart to heart talk, encouraging us to be patient and that everything will return to normal. At this point, the frustration increases, one can actually hear the knock of hunger. Some people were very weak with no food since morning. Our trainers did their best, provided bottle water that went round everyone like up to 2, 3 times. When we were very hungry, a business minded man called home and a mini kiosk was moved to the venue immediately. None of the snacks and drinks the vendor bought remained. Humans were longing for food and drink as the deer pants for water brook.
I personally bought things with the man at least 2 times. We waited until 4:30pm, no signal, the examiners had no way to be found.
By this time our facilitators called us again and expressed their disappointment over their expectations and pleaded with us to remain calm and go home until the new date of the examinations will be communicated.
In all, we were frustrated but nobody was to blame. Our trainers did their best for us, we have to appreciate them and see whatever happens as eventualities. The Examiners that we were supposed to blame were not the people with the examination logins and vouchers. I had nobody to blame but to go home and continue to hope it comes. I left home 6am to return 5:30pm.
LESSONS OF THE DAY
1. It's not everything that will favour your timing and schedules. Fate can decide otherwise but it is not over yet. 2. Even if you are offended, do not forget the sacrifices of your offender because of a little wrong or mistake. 3. Support people who mean well for you when you're at an advantage. 4. Always believe that every tough time will end in praise.
BE ENCOURAGED ALWAYS.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
@freshgrace, what a compelling and relatable story! Your post really captures the rollercoaster of emotions from the high hopes and diligent preparation for your IT certification exam to the sheer frustration of unforeseen technical difficulties and logistical hiccups. I especially appreciate how you highlighted the endurance, persistence, and perseverance.
It's inspiring to see your positive attitude shine through despite the challenges. The lessons you shared, particularly about appreciating the sacrifices of others and believing tough times will end, are truly valuable.
The photos also add a great touch, bringing the whole experience to life. This is the kind of resilient storytelling that Steemit needs. I hope your next attempt at the exam goes smoothly. What steps will you take differently the next time the examination is scheduled?
Your comment strengthens the brokenhearted and gives courage to the weak. You’re such an inspiration. Thank you.
The steps i will take differently the next time the examination is scheduled are:
You read so well for the exams and the power outage of a thing came in, I think that wasn't expected either and it is very natural for people to get angry after long night of reading and all but then, they should also know that we are facing that everyday here and maybe in the next scheduled exams, the organizers would be able to put things in place for this.
You managed your frustrating day so well. Do havee some rest.
Thank you for this kind words.
Like you said, the are doing this best to fix it. I am very optimistic that before the new date, they would have learned from their mistakes and ensuring a conducive and convenient atmosphere of the examinations.
You're a good Steemian.
