Yes it's comming ... and it will surpass us in every field (even in art https://steemit.com/ai/@ender-ld/ai-learns-semantic-style-transfer).
But I don't see it as a threat if we will be carefully enough. I think that without it, we as a species have little chance of survival. We need techology boost/breakthrough in space travels to colonize other planets.
That's why i'm a huge fun of Elon Musk as he works on space traveles and supports safe open AI.
