So far there have been a lot of negative opinions concerning artificial intelligence, many people regard it as a danger for society. But things are about to change, in the UK the attitude towards AI is already turning. Researchers from the Oxford University have developed a form of AI that recognises cardiovascular diseases and lung cancer at an early stage.

Artifficial Intelligence as a Powerful Tool
This new technology will be introduced in British hospitals this year. As the AI detects these diseases faster and more efficiently, billions of pounds can be saved. Cardiologists today make a diagnosis based upon scans that they make of the heart, however even specialists fail from time to time to spot certain anomalies. Recent figures have shown that 1 in 5 cases are misdiagnosed in this way. The newly developed AI named Ultromics is a product of the John Radcliffe hospital at Oxford. By studying thousands of scans and patients analysis, the AI system learned to recognize symptoms that doctors cannot see. Trials of the Ultromics system have been taken place in six hospitals. Publications of the results are not available yet, but according to cardiologist Paul Leeson Ultromics performed outstandingly well. Leeson also stated that he and his colleagues now have a powerful tool at hand that will able them to make almost flawless diagnosys.

Detecting Lung Cancer
When it comes to lungcancer doctors cannot determine the diffirence between malignant and benignant neoplasms. This was in the patients disadvantage, as regular hospital visits were reguired to follow up tumour growths. Ultromics has a variant that is able to detect those malignant neoplasms by searching for anomalies. It not only prevents long waiting periods and months of uncertainty for the patient, but also significant cost reduction for social security. The Ultromics variant is being commercialized by start-up company Optellum, testresults have indicated that approximately 4000 patients per year will get a far more accurate diagnose. If hospitals in the US and EU implement this new technology, 13 billion dollars of social security money could be spared.
The Dangers of Artificial Intelligence
The last couple of years scientists and CEO's of leading tech-companies have warned the public about the dangers of artifficial intelligence. Elon Musk stated recently that the advancement of AI posed a challenge to humanity's existence in the future. Microsoft-founder Bill Gates shares the same opinion, as does the famous physicist Stephen Hawkin.

needed technology
hay que usarla pero tambien hay que tener medidas de seguridad por si se saliera de control...
Anything that helps! In 2014 I thought I was having bad asthma induced by moving, but instead, I had 4 clogged arteries, one at 95% clogged. I got roto-rootered and stented. and became mostly vegetarian. This has been a huge health improvement for me. Currently wearing a new style Holter monitor for 7 days that is attached via wireless to a Samsung smartphone. Technology saves lives!
