SEC-S30W2: Legends of My Country: The mysterious call of the night
The story I am going to share is called The Mystery of the Night Call. In our country, there are many scary legends about the night. According to folk beliefs, the night is a real entity that calls people in a familiar voice in the dead of night and sometimes it imitates the voice of need and takes people out of their homes. And this has been happening since ancient times and the elders themselves are proof of this.
The elders of the village say that if someone calls your name in the dead of night, never respond because it might be the call of the night. There was a storm near our village that everyone was afraid of. It was said that strange things happened there in the middle of the night. Some people claimed that they heard someone calling them in the dead of night. One night, my younger brother Vijay was studying.
Then, around midnight, it was completely quiet and I heard my mother's voice from outside, calling out, "Vijay, come out." My brother was surprised. My mother was sleeping in the next room. At first, he thought he was hearing it wrong, but after a while, the same voice came again. Vijay opened the door and came out.

Then his body went cold and he remembered their words in fear. If you hear someone calling you at night, you will not answer unless you call three times. Because the elders used to tell the children in advance that if someone calls you at night, you will not come out and if you call three times, then you will not answer. Not before. He sat quietly. After a while, that voice again said, "Vijay, I am your mother, come out."
This time, the voice changed a little and became scary. Suman looked outside through the gap of the threat. When he came into the moonlight, he saw a shadow figure dressed in white standing in the courtyard of the house. He did not look impressed, but he was looking right at Vijay. Suddenly, the shadow figure slowly started walking towards the bamboo bushes and disappeared into the darkness.
The next morning, Vijay told us all the events. Mother was surprised and said, "I never left the house at night." Everyone in the village heard it and said, "It was definitely Nishi's call." Everyone praised Vijay's courage because he didn't open the door. But the real secret of the story came to light a few days later. Vijay told me one night that I had actually opened the door that day but hadn't told anyone.
I was surprised and asked, "So you went out?" He kept quiet and slowly said, "Yes, I went to the market, but when I came back, I saw that I was still sitting inside the house." There was a strange fear in his eyes. After that night, Sumana never stayed up late to study. This time, she had learned her lesson.
And the people in the village still say that sometimes Nishi doesn't just call people, sometimes she sends another shadow of you back. And if someone wakes up at night and sees her, they will still see her at the study table, but a part of her was following Nishi. Anyway, this was the story. Thank you all very much for reading the story.
