In this contest, I choose to write about tomatoes and bell peppers. Although many people use them as vegetables in cooking, they are scientifically classified as fruits because they develop from the flower of the plant and contain seeds. Their bright colours, smooth surfaces, and natural shapes make them beautiful subjects for photography while also reminding us of the importance of healthy eating.
Tomatoes are believed to have originated in South America, especially around Peru and Ecuador, before spreading to Mexico and later to the rest of the world. Today, they are widely grown in countries such as China, India, the United States, Turkey, Egypt, and Nigeria. Tomatoes usually have a round or slightly oval shape, with smooth, shiny skin. They are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the body from diseases. Eating tomatoes supports healthy skin, strengthens the immune system, and promotes heart health.

Bell peppers are also popular fruits that belong to the pepper family. They are believed to have originated in Central and South America but are now grown in many countries, including China, Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands, Nigeria, and the United States. Bell peppers come in different colours such as green, red, yellow, and orange, depending on their stage of ripeness. They have a unique blocky shape with smooth, glossy skin. Bell peppers are packed with vitamins A and C, fibre, and antioxidants that help improve eyesight, support the immune system, and keep the body healthy.
From a photographer's point of view, tomatoes and bell peppers are attractive because of their natural beauty. Their bright red and green colours immediately catch the eye and create a pleasing contrast when placed together. Their smooth texture reflects light beautifully, making them stand out in photographs. The different shapes and sizes also make it easy to arrange creative compositions that look balanced and appealing. Whether photographed in a market, on a farm, or in a kitchen, these fruits tell a story of freshness, nutrition, and nature.
Tomatoes and bell peppers are more than everyday cooking ingredients. They are healthy fruits with great nutritional value and are enjoyed in many countries around the world. Their rich colours, attractive shapes, and fresh appearance make them excellent subjects for photography. Through these photographs, I hope to encourage people to appreciate the beauty of nature, value healthy foods, and see how photography can turn ordinary fruits into extraordinary works of art.
