What happened to America?
Once upon a time, America used to be a place of freedom, life, love, and spirituality. People used to be more genuine, people were more respectable. America grew up in the 19th century thanks to great men like Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, etc. Immigrants flocked to our shores, following their dreams. They were the workforce to build America. Many became the small business merchants. America became the father of corporations, thus becoming the land of opportunity for anyone; a nation under God. So many things were better, but now so many things are far more than "worse".
Whatever happened to the America that we used to know? Over the past four decades an intellectual child was born -- it's called U.S. Congress. President Carter, Clintons, crime gang, Obama, the Houdini of deceptions, and the media, swamp of corruption. Because of these evil people, we almost lost our country and lives. The big reason America went through this stage was we told God to get out of our schools, courts and our societies. He wasn't welcome anymore. We became gods ourselves, legislating unnatural laws, genders, fake unions marriage, etc. America is starting to be more P.C. (politically correct) which could be good on some ways, but for the most part P.C. is cancer.
The lively and eminently readable Behold, America is the result. Churchwell traces the history of two slogans that played key roles in the 2016 campaign, “America first” and “the American dream”. The former is the 1930s isolationist slogan that President Donald Trump is now busily putting into practice. The American dream has long been shorthand for rising from poverty to a better life with all the material trappings. People in america are not genuine anymore, now everyone is focused on money and staying alive.
