RE: Training the Modern Slave- Part 2: The Imagining of a Government
Well written. I'm enjoying this series.
I don't expect people to agree with me that government is bad. I would settle for just convincing them not to blindly trust it. So many people are so ready to hand the keys over to the government on every imaginable thing. "Here! Take the internet! Money! Speech! Cryptography! Take it all! We can't handle it. Protect us! Protect our children! Fight terrorism!"
People assume the government is benevolent. They forget that it's made up of humans, and humans are prone to corruption. So, eventually, all government will turn evil. it's just a matter of time. Even if only 1% of people are corruptible (and I sadly think it is much more than that), as time goes on and more people join the government, the likelihood of takeover by malicious persons approaches 100%.
I think that blind trust that we've seen for so long will fade in this generation. There is a whole population of young people right now (NOT the ones who are on television protesting and squawking) who have already figured out that they don't have to use or respect the world that was handed to them. It might be awkward to watch, but they will have to invent something besides a central gov, and it should be interesting to see what they come up with.
