Extinct mammals are very interesting to me because they are so different than the animals we know today, but just similar enough in certain ways to make them see very strange.
It would be very wild to see a gopher with horns but they used to exist!!! According to the wikipedia they lived more than 20 million years ago so they would have been with very large animals in their environments but they were not big, like modern gophers and were only a foot long.
I love prehistoric mammals. Everyone always talks about dinosaurs but there was a long time where there were no dinosaurs and our modern animals were slowly taking their shape and it is amazing to see the bones and see the process in action. I found the image by googling Horned gophers.
