The world has been charmed by the loss of a rhino named Sudan !

The last male northern white rhinoceros has died. He died on Monday at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya following a series of infections and other health problems.

Elderly for his species, the 45-year-old Sudan lived a long and generally good life that would be almost unthinkable in the wild. His death was not unexpected, yet it has resonated around the world.

Elodie Sampere, a representative for Ol Pejeta said that he was a gentle giant, his personality was just amazing and given his size, a lot of people were afraid of him. But there was nothing mean about him.

The veterinary team said they had euthanised Sudan after his condition worsened over the weekend, leaving him with bad skin wounds. The rhino was unable to stand and was visibly suffering.
