I first tried it when we moved to a Western facing house and it would be so bright some days. She always loved to chill on that porch, but I could tell the sun was bothering her. I put a pair of shades on her and she loved them! Sometimes she'd whine for me to put a pair on her! She was maybe 4 or 5 I believe.
