!! STORY !! How I became the owner of my beautiful horse--KAI

I had owned a horse before, many years ago and vowed I wouldn't get another until the time was right. Well
in 2013 the time was right. I trawled through the local adverts but found nothing suitable so contacted a
horse and donkey sanctuary and was told there was a bay gelding who was 3yrs old who may be perfect
for me. He had been abandoned on the moors of Yorkshire when he was about a year old and was in a
sorry state. Starving and with terribly overgrown hooves. The sanctuary rescued him and he had been in
there care ever since.
I went along to see him and although he was very wary of me he allowed me to stroke him and give him a
gentle groom. The next time I visited he put his head over the stable door and gave me a nicker in greeting.
I was hooked ! He was the horse for me!
The day finally arrived for me to collect him. He travelled well and settled into his new surroundings
without a hitch. He got on well with his new friends and soon became a favourite, especially with
Pebbles the cat.

Every day we progressed further with our relationship until he greeted me at the gate every day and seemed
sad to see me go!

He's grown into a remarkable horse and we now enjoy gentle outings together in the countryside.
Sometimes I ride but often I walk him like a big puppy ! At times we just relax in his field enjoying each
others company.

He's seven now and I'm so happy to have him in my life.
I would urge anyone to look at rescue centres first if they are looking for a new companion. So many animals are there, through no fault of their own and you just might be as lucky as me in finding your forever friend.
