I personally love the older anime like Evangelion. It was a powerful piece, even right out of the gate with the first 2 episodes about the berserker! :)
I personally got a kick out of Misato Katsuragi!
Yeah, anime often feels kind of uninspired and cheap nowadays. 80s-90s really was a great time for anime. And yeah, NGE got me from the first episode with the first angel appearing and Misato <3, def one of my favorite chars as well. Quirky and caring until the last moment ;.;
