Apple, old MacBook Pro at risk of overheating: the official recall

in #undefined5 years ago

Apple announced a reminder program with Retina display for "a restricted amount of 15-inch MacBook Pro units." Between September 2015 and February 2017, the models engaged in the campaign were purchased, including faulty batteries that could overheat the system to the point of catching fire in the worst instances. Anyone who owns one of the units participating in the recall (recognizable by serial number) should stop using the scheme until a defect-free unit replaces the battery.

The company points out that the affected models are only the 15' MacBook Pro of 2015, and the problem is not present on any of the previous or subsequent models. Anyone who has verified the suitability of their unit may go to an Apple Store or Apple supplier authorized after making an appointment, or request a shipping repair via e-mail, in any case the computers involved will be taken to an Apple Store or Apple supplier.
