Ulog 186: Homemade Dog Treats Recipe

in ART LOVERS6 years ago

I make these dog treats usually every two weeks and, trust me, the dogs LOVE them! While I have never eaten one (they are human edible too), they can't get enough of these regular goodies. These little treats are for their normal goodies when they need little snack for being good and for when we come back from our walks.

They are super easy to make and in my mind, healthier for the dogs. Yes, I do buy certain treats for certain times of the day- like bedtime, but these are my go-to cookie treats for my little gals.

Yes, I even have a dog bone cookie cutter.

Recipe

  • 2-cups regular flour
  • 1-cup wheat flour
  • 2-tablespoons oil (I use avocado)
  • 1/4-cup peanut butter, pureed carrots or pumpkin (I've used baby food for this in the past)
  • 1-cup water

Mix all ingredients together until the dough is smooth and forms a ball, Roll out on a flour covered area; making sure to keep the dough thickness at about 1/4-inch. Cut out in desired shape and place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Bake for 22-25 minutes at 350-degrees. They will keep for about 7-10 days in a cookie jar; but trust me, they never last that long.

This recipe will make about 5-6 dozen cookie treats depending on the cookie cutter used.

Great idea @goldendawne, if I had dogs, this would be something I might like to try. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Sounds almost good enough for us to eat (I see no reason why not 🍕

Great idea! I will make some of these this weekend for my pups! Thanks for the recipe!
