Charles Chaplin Painting - PopArt Style

in #art7 years ago

Happy day to everyone.

This time after a long absence, I come to show you one of my few artistic creations, a portrait of Charles Chaplin in the good Pop Art style. I chose Chaplin because he represents for me one of the most influential characters in cinema, for be a symbol of humor and a genius in all its aspects.

Photo: Chaplin's picture finished, ready to be hung on a wall.

¿What is Pop Art?
Pop art was an important artistic movement of the twentieth century characterized by the use of images of popular culture taken from the media, such as advertisements, comic books, cultural objects and the world of cinema. Fuente

Now I chose this style because of the range of colors that predominates in it, bright and bold colors. Now I show you the original photo which inspires me to make the painting.

I started drawing the sketch of the image on the canvas using a 2H clear pencil, just to trace the features, it is not necessary to be perfect.

Then I started painting from the top, starting with the iconic hat and his hair.

Step by step I give shape to the face, painting some facial features such as eyebrows and part of the face.

One of the most difficult features to recreate were the eyes, trying to make them as symmetrical as possible was complicated. I did what I could haha.

And finally just have to paint the rest of the body and a few details. It doesn't look like the original photo but I did what I could, to recreate the expression of apathy and impression on his face was the most complicated.

Final retouching.

And done, picture finished. It took me a week and a half to finish it completely. Now it remains to find a space on the walls of my house to hang it.

The dimensions of the painting are 50x60cm.

These were the implements used to recreate Chaplin's painting. From brushes and pencil, also cold paint, to cotton as a method to blur the paint.

I hope you liked my painting, leave your comments about it. Additionally I must thank @erickrivera for motivating me to paint, now I am your competition haha.
