Last week I wrote a post about Zdzislaw Beksinski and its particular drawings reflecting what he called “magic realism”. I also mentioned to write a second post about him. Wel… I brought you a new compilation from the 707 drawings Beksinski made, evoking a somber vision of madness and death.

La semana pasada escribí un post sobre Zdzislaw Beksinski y sus particulares pinturas reflejando lo que él llamó “realismo mágico”. También mencioné escribir un segundo post sobre él. Bueno… Les traje una nueva recopilación de las 707 pinturas que Beksinski hizo, evocando una sombría visión de la locura y la muerte.

Before showing you the drawings I chose, I want to tell you why Beksinski is one of my favorite artists: this is one of the artists I most admire because he achieved to shape what he really had in his mind, what we mostly trend to deny, unlike other people who call themselves “artists” and their work is about one line and one cube. I also found a particular affinity between his paintings and the music I listen to: Metal music. Like Metal music talks sometimes about terror, death, terrifying visions, despair and other “negative feelings” unspoken by the rest of music genres, this could be the perfect fit (at least, it is for me).

Antes de mostrarles las pinturas que escogí, quiero contarles por qué Beksinski es uno de mis artistas favoritos: este es uno de los artistas que más admiro porque él logró plasmar lo que realmente tenía en su mente, lo que más tendemos a negar, a diferencia de las demás personas que dicen llamarse “artistas” y su trabajo consiste en una línea y un cubo. También encontré una afinidad particular entre sus pinturas y la música que escucho: Metal. Como el Metal habla algunas veces sobre el terror, la muerte, las visiones aterradoras, desespero y otros “sentimientos negativos” que no son tratados por los demás géneros musicales, esta podría ser la perfecta combinación (al menos, para mí lo es).
