100 Days of Art! Overview of Week 2: Focus on Cloth
It's been yet another week of the 100 Days of Art event and I'm still going strong! I had a couple days where I was really exhausted and didn't want to draw admittedly, but I pushed through each day and I have yet to miss a deadline! Considering it's now day 16 and I usually drop out of these things within the first week, I think I'm doing pretty good.
This week's personal focus was on cloth and clothing, so I really tried to keep in mind how cloth would act when I was drawing.
One of the biggest highlights this week was that we hit our first 'improve/finish a drawing' theme. That meant I was able to finish and submit the piece I started on day 1!

Day 10: 'Night' Finished
Theme I chose: Finish/Improve a previous piece
I am really happy with how this turned out. I'm not really great with shading yet, and I did drop the curtains i had in the initial sketch. Otherwise, I feel like this piece is a good baseline for where I am now.

Day 11: Cloth Study
Theme I Chose: Use severe lighting (Chiaroscuro)
So the next day I really tried to take advantage of my weekly focus and ended up doing a cloth study. While it's not really the prettiest piece of work I've done, it significantly improved my knowledge of how cloth acts and lays on top of objects. in the next two pieces you can't really see the application well, but both pieces have their own special traits.

Day 12: Man on Fire
Theme I Chose: Interacting Characters
This piece was really fun to do. I found a really great pose reference and was very successful in reproducing the pose in my work. It really helped me see how I was improving in anatomical knowledge.
The other part of this piece was that it was supposed to be a piece where someone else could draw another character into the piece. Unfortunately a lot of the other artists found it difficult to think of an idea with the piece I gave them, I'm still happy with how my piece came out.

Day 13: Eat My Hammer!
Theme I Chose: Interacting Characters part 2
For this piece, I was trying to match the art style of the artist who's piece I chose to interact with. I don't do a lot of chibi art, so I had a bit of a challenge with proportioning. I still feel like this character came out well, and I feel like she fit into the piece perfectly. The final piece where I integrated this character into someone else's work can be found here: https://kittehfaye.deviantart.com/art/Day-13-Emy-vs-Overlord-726671910
This last piece is the one where I truly saw the benefit of my cloth study.

Day 14: Satiated Sketch
Theme I Chose: Tiny Death
The theme doesn't seem like it fits, but I can assure you it does. However, to avoid having to flag this post as NSFW I will just state that I interpreted the theme of 'Tiny Death' as 'little death' or 'Le Petit Mort' in French.
The sheet she is holding was no challenge for me since i did the cloth study earlier in the week, and being able to apply the knowledge I gained was extremely satisfying. This piece is really one of my favorites since I hope to eventually do a bit more ero/risky art. That, of course, is a long ways down the road.
I hope you all enjoyed my recap of the week! Be sure to check out my blog next week for another recap post!
