Cityscape Abstract - Acrylic Painting
I'm sure you can already understand from the title picture that I’m about to share something that is quite special in its own way. Even it’s special to me because it was the first time in my life that I was going to use acrylic colors. And that too on a massive 72x48 inch canvas.
It was nothing short of a challenge for me. Before this, whenever I created any artwork, it was either with oil pastels on paper or using oil paints on walls.
For this project, I was given a printed design on paper which I had to replicate onto the canvas. I actually made this painting about three months ago in Lahore, Pakistan a city I had stayed to for a few months.
The very first step was to collect and purchase the necessary materials. I easily found everything I needed at an art supplies store. However, transporting such a huge canvas safely to my workspace was another story. Imagine carrying that on a bike, battling against the wind! It definitely wasn't easy. :-p
Once I got it back, it was time to prepare the base of the canvas. Since the surface had some rough patches, I used fine sandpaper to smooth it out. After that, I used a soft brush and white acrylic paint to get the background ready.
Next, I drew a grid on the paper with a pencil, and then recreated it in a larger size on the canvas. After that, I moved on to the drawing phase, completing the entire sketch with a pencil first to make things easier for myself. Then, it was finally time to play around with the brushes and colors.
Once I started, I got so absorbed in the painting that I completely lost track of everything around me. The only thing on my mind was that the final result had to be outstanding. I did make sure to take photos of the different stages using my smartphone camera. I really wish I had a setup to record the whole process as a video, but that’s alright.
I might not be able to fully describe the process in words, which is why I am sharing the photos in this post.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the different stages of this painting through these pictures. The last photo shows the final result! In the end, I’ll just say that this was a truly fascinating experience for me.
However, there is one thing I haven't mentioned in this post because I want to see if you can guess it. I’m curious to see who gets it right
How much time or how many days do you think it took me to complete this painting?
I’ll be eagerly waiting for your comments! Also, I have included a short video link at the end of this post. It’s from my YouTube channel, where I often upload shorts of my artwork and occasionally go live. Feel free to subscribe if you'd like to see more.
