Drawing Hands the RIGHT WAY - 3 Simple "handy" tips
Greetings Reader
Today was another day focused on my weak point ..well pretty much anyone who has tried drawing it .....the dreaded hands .. I am pretty happy with the result of sketching . It did not take long to do it either.
The trick was to break down the "hand gesture " into :
1 ) basic shapes (squares , rectangles etc.)
If you can look at the first hand drawing you ll notice that the faint sketch lines that form the palm is a square like shape.
- The tricky part for making your hand realistic is connecting between each fingers . With me I did not realise it till recently , I used to just draw a "v" shape to connect the fingers but depending on the finger position it may be u or join higher up on the finger.
- Look at the shape of your Hand - Each finger is unique in its shape , study your reference image properly focusing on the SHAPE of each finger .Take the thumb for example - it is not a uniform shape
it starts with a narrow base and then when it meets the 2nd bone it widens and resembles the shape of a budding flower.
Thumb
Good luck fellow Artists on drawing your hands , hope these tips help you along in your works.

I have always been critical of how hands are drawn. The three fingered cartoon hands especially bother me. Not that I can draw them any better...
Hopefully by reading this u can better visualise em . practice them regularly. Cartoon hands are mostly drawn with 4 fingers
