A Little Taste of What's Inside...
"How unbelievably naive you two are. You can't run from me in my forest."
"Hmmm... you two don't really fear me, do you?"
"Aside from your glowing eyes and the forest, what is special about you?"
"And when super-security officers find out where the cracks in your little spot are, you'll be doomed."
Behind the Scenes: Bringing This Panel to Life
I thought it'd be fun to show you all how one of the panels from this issue came together. This one was special because I decided to push myself a little—trying to upgrade from my usual pen-and-notebook process.
Step 1: Setting Up the Panels
I started by creating the panel layout—a small panel inside a big one. This time, I decided to use A4 paper size instead of what I'd used before. Wanted to try something different.
Step 2: Rough Sketch (Small Panel)
I began with the rough outline of the small panel. It was supposed to be a shadow image of the Reaper showing himself from within the plant... but honestly, I couldn't draw that part well, so I ended up with this instead. Sometimes you adapt!
Step 3: Rough Sketch (Big Panel)
Normally,I'd draw everything in my notebook first before tracing. But for this A4 scene, I decided to do things differently—I drew the rough sketch directly using my phone. This was my way of trying to upgrade myself a bit from the pen world.
Step 4: Tracing the Final Lines
Next was tracing out the lines I really wanted from the rough sketch.I mean, I couldn't leave that skeleton man trapped in a box forever, right? 😂 This part was actually the easiest step in the whole process.
Step 5: Adding Color
Time to bring it to life!I started coloring from the tree brown, then moved to the Reaper, then the binding plant, and finally our girl's outfit. Looking back now, I think I added the shadows a bit too early—but, it still worked out!
Step 6: The Background
For the background,I first colored the whole panel black, then painted over it with flood brown. I used the grass brush to add the grasses—not too randomly this time, but placed where I felt they were needed.
Step 7: The Final Touch
Lastly,I overlaid a red layer and reduced its opacity to give the final image that moody feel before adding the text. Looking at it now, I'm honestly amazed I could draw directly on my phone to this extent.
The Final Panel (with text):
The Struggle Was Real
Getting this issue out was a journey. Honestly, it was a rough one. The electricity situation around here has been no joke, and there were times I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish the pages the way I wanted. Creating this issue meant working through a lot of inconvenience and long hours when the power was on.
I also have to be real with you all—I didn't end the issue exactly where I intended to. The story took a little turn, or maybe I just had to pause at a different beat than planned. But you know what? The music is on. The story is moving forward, and that's what counts.
We keep creating, we keep marching.
I'd love for you to read it and let me know what you think. Your comments, upvotes, and shares really help keep this indie comic going and introduce the Hawk to new readers.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Thanks for riding with me.

It's great to hear you keep moving, even marching, WOW! Is there more than one story you make?
Hmmn, not really. But I'll be introducing one more soon. Silent Hawk shouldn't be the only story, I guess 😊
