My latest watercolour painting - Sunset on Lake Superior

It is still snowing here in Canada but I’m dreaming of summer

Camping on Lake Superior.

This was my painting this week

These are my steps …

Step 1: start with very light pencil sketch on Watercolour paper

Step 2: Add a light wash of yellow and orange to the sky and water

Step 3: Add cobalt blue to sky and water. Add dark tree-line and sand on beach

Maybe I should have stopped here ?

Step 4 : Add Payne’s grey to the sky

This is the original photo… but I made the sky much darker
