Oil painting from Cedar Creek #canada

in ᴀʀᴛ & ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛꜱyesterday (edited)

This is an oil painting I made from Cedar Creek where we play hockey in the winter.

It’s more of a pond at this part of the Creek ….

We haven’t played here in a while since the ice doesn’t get thick enough anymore and we don’t want to risk falling through the ice.

8 x 10” oil on Masonite board

In my opinion, this is something best viewed from a distance, not from this close up (at least for me). I think it’s a unique way of depicting ice and winter. To me, it looks like chunks of ice. Is that right?

Could you tell me which colours you used, or did you just go with your instincts?

We had a cold winter, who knows you can enjoy the ice hockey soon.

In this painting I use mostly Cobalt blue, Burnt umber, yellow ochre and titanium white.
