Birca in soft pastels
I thought painting Birca would be nice. The sketch I made on December 24th, and since I used white paper, it took me a long time to make this girl visible (6 hours and still not ready).

It's the first time I've painted a bird, and it's not easy at all. Especially, not this one, since, unlike what people may say, every bird does have a specific character and they are individuals. My Birca looks totally different from other owls. She is way prettier.
I made the sketch first (Dec 24th) so I could start the next day at once. Welk, I had no clue how to make white visible on white paper (no, no pastel pencils yet).
I decided to start with 231,7 gold ochre, the colour I picked to colour my owl with. Next, I added 727,8 bluish grey. These soft pastels make it hard to wipe out on this paper. I need many layers, unlike those I borrowed from painting class. A plus is that there are hardly any crumbles. No need to blow or get rid of the crumbs.
Since I have no pastel pencils, I used the HB to sharpen the nails. The paws and nails I did with the soft pastels (colours: 704,8 grey, 700,5 black and 411,5 burnt sienna).

Of course, the eyes of this owl aren't black but dark brown. This is a sign that this species is not a nocturnal bird.
I used black, next a layer of 409,5 burnt umber and added the white to bring them alive.
Today I will try to fix my owl and see what I can change about that ugly background.

Just try and like my daughter says: only draw something that's of your interest (and most likely can see since that's a problem as well).
You can show your mountains, who knows they changed over time.
Thanks for stopping by.
I think that the more we draw, the more we change. Fast is good because it gives us more time to create more. You could also use chalk. Just a little bit. Use a blackboard and then, instead of the tip, use the side of the chalk on paper or a wall. You can also smudge it a little with a wet brush or your finger. Then it's just like paint. It's also fun to do with children. You can be done in 10 minutes. Only I can't do it. 🤣
Looks pretty to me
That sounds like a good start. I try her again in some time. Thank you for stopping by.
