Sunday Paintings
Today was a bit of a messy day, but I did spend most of it painting. Not just painting, though; I also threw away a large number of brushes and paint that was old and crumbly. Although the teacher says it doesn't, I think the cold does affect the quality of acrylic paint. Old paint, or paint that has gone bad, is useless. I also think that from now on I won't buy so many colours; I prefer to mix them myself, so that they match better. If I do want a different colour, I'll just buy a small tube. Not that I need to, because I got a lot of paint for my birthday and I haven't used it all yet. Winter blues or not, I've decided that when it's all gone, I'll stop. This decision gives me peace of mind.
Today I started with watercolours. The result: two failed cats. I still can't manage to make the paint run on wet watercolour paper.
Then I got to work on a small canvas. There are three of them. I made the first one months ago with birch trunks on it; it's an autumn scene. Today I made the second one, which I had already sketched, by the way. If you can call it sketching. The third canvas must be somewhere; you can see the result below. I don't know yet where number 3 will go.

The top painting is what I made today.
Time flies when you're busy like this, and of course my desk collapsed again, but I managed to catch it just in time. This time, nothing broke against the glass.
The two cats on my floor are still not finished either. You know, those 10 paintings I was going to paint in an hour and didn't manage to finish. I worked on them again, which actually went quite quickly. I made their bellies bigger so that they touch each other. I did this again with one debit card and white paint. Another coat will be needed, because this titanium white acrylic paint doesn't cover at all.

And to relax a little, I quickly painted some mountains with blue watercolour paint, yes, only blue. It's strange how watercolour paint bleeds when I don't want it to and doesn't when I want it to. I still haven't figured out whether this is due to the paint, the paper, me, or perhaps all three.
Now, before going to bed, I'm going to cut some paper so that I can get back to work with soft pastels later. I feel like I've been working with watercolours for weeks and I've had enough now.
Tomorrow, I'm not only going to continue with the cats, but also start with the Betta fish on canvas and look for better examples to draw her.
@flcg I can post, I hope you too.

I don't know when your birthday is, but from what I've read, it's already passed, so I wish you a happy birthday. May you continue to be the person I respect and admire, a sensible and intelligent person, and may you enjoy excellent health. That is my wish.

Thank you for your sweet wishes. I appreciate it. I am not so sure about the excellent health since I never had that but hey, you never know what the nearest future holds. It's a bit longer ago by the way. Time flies if it comes to birthdays.
I send you a big hug!

Did you sketch the tree birch all as one piece? I noticed the joints match up perfectly!
I like the positivity of your work, it's great)
