Art Explained by a Writer: Affe vor Skelett (1900)

Brother, we need to talk. It's serious business.
It seems that Von Max isn't quite right in the head. All he does is talk to corpses and skeletons. It's driving me crazy, just like the rest of the monkey family. Since you have a huge influence on him, it would be good if you stopped dictating to him. What's with all those notes? This has to stop. Otherwise, the family will cut him off. Do you understand that!
It's bad enough that we have to share our living space with him, but we can no longer tolerate his idiotic fiddling with and dissecting corpses, all those organs and limbs preserved in formaldehyde. What's more, it's a pigsty and it smells like a zoo in here. It's also humiliating to see how he imitates us.

Alas, the ancient Romans and many other rulers knew that the way to seize power is to sow fear and create chaos, so that the group attacks each other and does not see what is really happening. That little monkey is on the right track. From the looks of it, his brother has already starved to death and cannot defend himself. 😉

Hahaha. Actually, the "Monkey Brother's" gaze seems to be telling the skeleton the dialogue you've written. Or is it the skeleton who's speaking? Hahaha. Well, I think either of them could have the same feeling about Von Max, hahaha.

I loved reading your post. Hugs.

Jajaja.

Me encantó leerte. Un abrazo.

I don't think this question will ever be answered. Brother Monkey remains silent. Perhaps he is offended or annoyed because he has been called to account by the monkey. Maybe he whispered a master plan into Von Max's ear, or perhaps it was other voices in the painter's head that also liked to dissect figures. Who else did this? Leonardo? Perhaps it is a quirk of painters to dissect everything before they depict it?

It all looks a bit dark and gloomy. Let's not wonder what it smells like. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment.

Hahaha. Well, monkeys smell like monkeys, hahaha.

Jajaja. Bueno, los monos huelen a mono, jajaja.

( a pigsty and it smells like a zoo in here. )Just imagining the mess and the smell isn't pleasant at all, and if I add what it does, it's better NOT to imagine it.

Let's skip the imagination for today... LOL

That’s a lot of talk coming from the very monkey who’s trying to command the skeleton 🤣🤣🤣
