Painting with Sand

I was recently tagged in a post about painting with sand. This is a challenge on Steemit. No, painting with sand isn’t really my thing. I wouldn’t know what to paint with coloured sand.

How do you make coloured sand yourself?
Take some sand (from a river, sandpit, sandy path, or similar) and sieve it. Then, mix it into your paint.
I used the green paint I’d been given. This isn’t acrylic paint, and Pepco didn’t think it necessary to state what it actually is.
I mixed paint and sand or a piece of card, and no, I didn’t add any glue. I think that’s nonsense. This also applies to pouring paintings. I’ve tried it here with and without glue. I can’t see any difference, so it saves an ingredient and money. Glue certainly isn’t cheap here. There is children’s glue available, but it’s nothing like most cheaper types of glue, which means it’s a pointless expense.
Acrylic paint hardens on its own, yes, even the thick blobs, without the need for sand or any other texture-creating elements.

I’m not really keen on painting flowers, so I just faffed about a bit and used the leftover potpourri as a guide.

It goes without saying that with paint and sand, you can use either a brush or a palette knife, or even a spoon or your fingers. It does require a bit of patience, though. The thicker the mixture, the longer it takes to dry.
Incidentally, you can also do this on paper, a piece of card, or… on your wall. If you mix sand into the paint you use on your wall or concrete floor, you’ll get a lovely texture that can also help cover up unsightly patches. It’s definitely worth a try, especially with a free supply of sand right on your doorstep.

Once this is dry, I’ll touch it up, at least if I can. The green seems to be bleeding. Will this end up on my wall? No way. This is not what I would call art. Who knows one day In try it again is In have a spare wall or a big canvas to work with.

How come this reminds me of modelling with dough?

From what I've read, I get the feeling that you're not particularly motivated to work with sand, however I like the result.
