I was just going to my phone Gallary and i came across this picture which i saved long time ago on Instagram. So i felt it will be proper to share the illustration with us for a better understanding. Here is the style,

Deduct 4inches from the gown lenght.
Add your horizontal measurement as seen above.

To get the armhole, draw a slanted line using your arm hole measurement as guild from the top of your fabric to the bust line, As illustrated above.
Note: divide your armhole measurement by 2 and subtract 4inches to get the accurate arm hole, and remember to add half inch seam allowance.

This is what the front looks like when you cut it out.
Neckline weight is 5 and the depth is 2.
To get a pencil fitted hem, subtract one or one and half from the hip measurement.
Do remember to add an inch seam allowance.

Place the front on another folded fabric, bring out your zip seam allowance which i made mine to be 1inch. Trace it out, just like the above illustration.

To cut out the sleeve; fold the fabric from the center go in by 4inches, and draw a slant line by 4 to 5inch which is the armhole, then draw a curved vertical line of 9inches , as seen above.
The total sleeve half length is 13inches.
Note: to get an off shoulder armhole, subtract 2 or 3inches from the sleeve length. Divide the armhole measurement by 2 and subtract 4inches.

For the flare fold your fabric into four, from the 90% angle measure 2 in horizontal and vertical direction. Curve it which will be in a C shape. This will give you your sleeve circumference.

Immediately after the 2inches measure another 8inches towards vertical, middle and horizontal direction. Draw a curve line and trace it out as seen above.

Dart is 2inches before the bust point (nipple) and 2inches before the hip line. Back is one before the chest line or exactly on the chest line then two before the hip line.

Here comes our off shoulder pencil gown with a bell sleeve.

Hope we all find today's class interesting? See you guys later, do have a nice time. I remain@arogboolabisi stay bless.
