Legendary Fela.

Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-kuti was born the year 1938 in Abeokuta Nigeria,his Father was a Reverend in the Protestant church and his Mum fumilayo was a political activist.

He studied music in London instead of medicine he was sent to study. In the 1960s he pioneered his own unique style of music called 'Afrobeat' ,he uses Yoruba and pidgin English. His lyrics were about the oppressive Government,he was arrested a lot of times ,and beaten on some occasions, rather than abandon his cause ;he used the experience to inspire him to write more songs and thereby making his voice heard the more.
Fela was a human right activist,and a very charismatic performer and instrumentalist. He was fearless in talking about issues concerning Africa ,his songs spoke his inner thoughts,he criticised the corruption that existed in the government,he believed and preached peace amongst Africans ,to him the most important way of fighting European policy of forcefully extending National authority was to support African traditional religion and lifestyle.

He recorded over 40 albums before his death .
He died 2 August ,1997 ,at the age of 58 in Lagos Nigeria.He is loved by many,a role model and mentor to a lot of youths ,he was a voice to the voiceless while alive and a shining star during the dark nights of oppression for many.
