Dukes and Duchesses of the Deserted!
ASWinthewoodswin.jpg

Sorry for the delay, folks. This was supposed to be posted on Monday but, you know, life tends to get in the way sometimes. That being said, after 10 awesome weeks of the ASWcontest, we're going to take this week off as I can foresee myself being too busy the next few days as well. Look for the new theme announcement on Tuesday!

The Theme:

This week's theme was = In the woods! The abandoned subjects must have been found in the woods/forest/jungle.

The results:

1st Place Winner - 10 SBD: @alfheim15

This photo of an old tank in a hedge row was just awesome. It was a little poetic to me. As great as mankind is at building weapons of destruction and death, mother nature will always win every battle... on a long enough timeline.
From the author: "I found this abandoned tank in North Cotabato City. I stopped and take a photo of it coz it makes me think a lot about the history of our city. I don't think if this tank was used during the World War II or it is used against the terrorist here in our country."

2nd Place Winner - 5 SBD: @everlove

This entry by @everlove resonated with me a bit. In one way, because it was a boat out in the middle of the woods, which is pretty cool on its own. But in an abstract way, I love that it says "HOPE" as the earth reclaims the object. That's my hope for a lot of things our species has done to our planet.
From the author: "I love all the quirky things that appear in the deterioration process,
and how nature can reclaim that which man has made. This boat was found in New England
sitting all by itself on a small hill, surrounded by the deeper forest of trees."

3rd Place Winner - 2.5 SBD: @melodyrussell

As usual, there were a lot of great entire this week... but I kept reminding myself to focus on theme of "in the woods". Subjects that were away from society and other development; and this image really seemed to embody it.
From the author: "Last October, my friend @hethur240 and I hiked the trail to the spring where this water wheel was once functional, and it does actually jump out and surprise you!"

FINAL THOUGHTS
Once again, I apologize in the delay for judging this week's contest. It sucks to become so busy that you don't have time to post, but ya gotta keep those bills paid, right? I liked this week's theme quite a bit. My wife and I are big hikers and we always love to come across old house foundations, abandoned railroad tracks, and the like. Congratulations to this week's winners! I look forward to the next round of the ASW contest!

Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №. 11 will be announced next week (Tuesday) and look for the official contest post to see what the week's theme will be!

Sort:

congrats to winner,
all the best for all of you fellas,
cheers!!

let me know if the new contest are began :))
thanks before sir

Ha ha that tank is epic! 'We'll just come back to it later..surely no one will find it here for a while..'

Such a crazy thing to just leave laying around. Even if it was broken, it had to have been rather expensive to build. It's crazy what some people and governments will abandon.

Awesome images of those reclaimed by nature and perfectly captures your theme.

I'm glad you noticed I really tried to stick to the theme with my pics. I tried not to just pick things/places I liked.

hahaha Yeah I looked I saw of the entries and you have a hard job but the winners left me slack-jaw awed.

Beautiful photographs, congratulations to the winners.

I love love love this collection! I look forward to joining future ASW contests. 😍

A new round will begin on Tuesday!

Congratulations to the winners!

Woohoo 3rd place!! :D Thanks for taking so much time and effort to keep this contest going. It’s a great inspiration for so many Steemit users and it’s produced some really interesting and beautiful content. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the upcoming weeks!

Thanks! I'm glad you appreciate the contest. I don't want to toot my own horn too much, but I really love the abandoned stuff that's been brought to the platform over the past few weeks. Such neat stuff from all around the globe.

Toot that horn! You’ve got a good thing going :) A lot of people seem to enjoy it, myself included, so I hope it turns out to be a long-term thing!!!

Congrats to the winners, great photos! Some really cool photos again!

I agree. They make me really want things to warm up so I can get out into the woods again.

Yeah I had posted a while back about flooding we were having and while it's been dry and cold things are still a swampy mess in the woods around here. No way I was trucking into the woods to take photos.

Well.... I don't want to give too much away, but the flooding thing may play into next week's theme a bit!

Sadly no Abandoned Shit in the my photos, but felt they were pretty cool.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks for the honorable mention. Looking forward to the next theme :)

It will be announced Tuesday! It will be a bit of a tricky one, but I home you will partake. :)

Great pics! I like the one with the waterwheel most - an object indeed worth taking a trip to. Thank you and looking forward to the next round! :)

I liked the waterwheel a lot too. I think the only thing that took it out of first was that in the complete post, there were some museum-like informations signs posted near it... made it feel, I dunno, maybe a bit less abandoned. Know what I mean?
