Basketball in the Life of the Filipinos

I grew up being aware that most of the Filipinos are fond of this sports. Whether just by watching the games/matches on television or actually paying it. There are what we called avid fans of different basketball teams. Some are even organized and cheering their favorite team in the actual games.

You can easily find a basketball court in here in almost all corners of the streets. Filipinos improvise most of those basketball courts. Street players do not even need a proper basketball attire just to enjoy this sports. They do not mind just wearing slippers or a old worn shirt, what matters is that they can play. That is how Filipinos are so fond of this sports.

No doubt that there are several documentations of videos about it. Showcasing how Filipinos are really into basketball and why could it be the root for it. There are also leagues in basketball in almost all barangays here and every fiesta, there will be basketball competitions as part of the celebration.

There is a PBA Philippines Basketball Association and there are various seasons of games. My favorite PBA team is Talk N Text. One of the most famous basketball team on here for a long time is Ginebra San Miguel Beer team.

I believe they have large number of fans and for sure, they are celebrating now cause their team recently won a championship. It has been a long time before the team was able to win the championship again. That makes their fans crazier. LOL

I have been playing this sports since high school years but just mainly for fun and not a professional one. Also not too active on playing recently too. Playing basketball is a good exercise and something you can really enjoy. It can be a good bonding for friends as well as most probably, most of you in the group have an interest or like to play basketball.
