Feni Government College was established in 1922. Initially, it was a private college, named Feni College. The main purpose of establishing the college was to provide opportunities for higher education to local students, because at that time, students in Feni and the surrounding areas had to go to Comilla or Chittagong for higher education. The college gradually gained recognition in the 1930s. The college expanded greatly during the Pakistan period. After independence, the college was acquired by the government in 1968 and was named Feni Government College. The college is currently affiliated to the National University. It offers various levels of education including Higher Secondary, Honours, and Masters. Honours and Masters programs were introduced step by step, which made a special contribution to the expansion of higher education in Feni district. Currently, there are Honours/Masters courses in Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Humanities and Commerce.

Due to the low number of seats in the college, the competition is relatively high.
