Map the Story #30 - Masjid Al Mustafa, Dhaka
As-salamu alaykum, My Dear Steemit friends
Masjid Al Mustafa is one of the most modern and visually striking mosques I have seen in Bangladesh. It is located at Satarkul on Madani Avenue (100 Feet Road) in Dhaka. The mosque is quite close to my home; when traveling along the 100 Feet Road toward United International University, this beautiful mosque stands gracefully within the United area, right beside the road. Its massive black and grey structure feels like a peaceful spiritual sanctuary rising amid the noise and traffic jam of the city.
It is said that the mosque was designed with inspiration from the Holy Kaaba, which makes its architecture even more special. The structure allows natural sunlight to enter, creating a calm and uplifting atmosphere inside.
The main entrance has a large glass wall, giving the mosque a very modern appearance. Although it is a modern mosque, it is a remarkable example of contemporary Islamic architecture in Dhaka.
There are also excellent arrangements for female worshippers. A separate floor and designated prayer area are provided, ensuring proper privacy and safety, which is truly commendable.
The prayer hall is extremely spacious and can accommodate around 11,000 worshippers at a time. The prayer rows are well-organized, and what impressed me most was the disciplined exit after prayer, everyone leaves calmly without rushing. Seeing so many people praying together in such order truly feels heart-warming.
The entire mosque is very clean and well-maintained. It has large and hygienic ablution areas where many people can perform wudu simultaneously. Other facilities include digital prayer time displays, air-conditioning system, shelves for the Holy Quran, escalators and elevators, which are especially helpful for worshippers. One feature that stood out to me was the huge ceiling fans,I have not seen fans of this size in any other mosque in our country.
During my visit, I arrived at 12:30 PM for Jumu’ah prayer, which was held at 1:30 PM. After the prayer, I participated in a Milad gathering, and later, jilapi was distributed among everyone. I have also seen the mosque at night, and its lighting makes it look incredibly beautiful.
When I stepped inside, I truly felt as if I was no longer in Dhaka but standing in a grand mosque in another city. Despite being in a traffic-filled capital, this place offers deep peace and tranquility. It made me feel closer to Allah even while living in a modern urban environment
Masjid Al Mustafa is truly a unique symbol of modern Islamic architecture. Muslims find peace and spiritual comfort in mosques, and at Masjid Al Mustafa, that feeling of devotion and serenity seems to multiply many times over.
