Tajhat Zamindar Bari is a historic zamindar house and museum located in the Tajhat, Mahiganj area, about 5 to 6 kilometers away from Rangpur city. It is very easy to reach this place from Rangpur bus stand by van, rickshaw, or auto-rickshaw. Currently, Tajhat Zamindar Bari is open to visitors as a museum from 09:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Tajhat Zamindar Bari is built on a high foundation. The wide staircase, long verandas, and beautiful pillars clearly represent the aristocratic lifestyle of the zamindar era.

The surrounding open space and green environment make the place very calm and pleasant. Since it is located a little away from the busy city area, visitors feel relaxed and peaceful while visiting this place.

The walls, doors, and windows of the Zamindar Bari are decorated with fine designs and artistic patterns. At present, the building is being used as a museum.

To enter the Zamindar Bari, every visitor has to buy a ticket costing 30 BDT per person. There is also strict security at the entrance. Members of the Ansar force check bags and scan visitors before allowing entry. Since this place is an important historical heritage of Bangladesh, several security protocols are maintained. These measures ensure the safety of visitors and prevent any unwanted incidents.

Details about Its Services

There is a museum inside Tajhat Zamindar Bari, and it remains closed on Sundays. Unfortunately, we were not aware of this before visiting. Inside the museum, many belongings of the Zamindar family are well preserved and maintained by the local government. The ticket system and overall management are also controlled by the government. Clear instructions, notices, and guidelines are displayed so that both local and foreign tourists can easily understand the history and importance of this place. Although we could not visit the museum on that day, we sincerely apologize for that. In the future, we will try our best to share the museum experience with everyone.

Other Facilities

There is a designated parking area available. Motorcycle parking costs 23 BDT including VAT, and there is a separate fee for car parking. CCTV cameras are installed to ensure constant security. The Zamindar Bari also has a large pond where many fish can be seen. Various historical information boards are placed around the area. Tajhat Zamindar Bari is one of the most popular and well-known heritage sites in Rangpur. People of all ages visit this place regularly, especially during Eid holidays. Due to its old age, the building is renovated from time to time to preserve its beauty and historical value.

Overall Experience

Tajhat Zamindar Bari and its museum represent the lifestyle and belongings of ancient zamindars and rulers. Students from schools and colleges, as well as local and foreign tourists, regularly visit this place.

Personally, I liked this Zamindar Bari very much because of its peaceful environment, beautiful trees, flower gardens, and well-organized facilities. Overall, this historical place left a very positive impression on me.
