Introduction

Kamalapur Railway Station is the largest railway station in our country, located in the capital city, Dhaka. It is one of the busiest stations in Bangladesh. Today, I would like to share my thoughts and experience about this important station.

A Station with a Long History

I have visited this station many times since my childhood. The station is very old and quite large. It was inaugurated in 1968, even before the independence of Bangladesh. Being located in the capital, Kamalapur Railway Station carries great importance, which is why many facilities have been added here over time.

Where Trains from Every Corner Meet

Almost all trains from different parts of the country arrive at Kamalapur Railway Station. Intercity, local, mail, and even freight trains operate here. From Dhaka, passengers can travel to almost every corner of the country through this station.

Platform & Passenger Facilities

The platforms are wide and well-developed. There are plenty of seating arrangements, allowing passengers to sit comfortably even during rainy weather. Lights and fans are installed on the platforms, which are essential for travelers. Safe drinking water is available, and there is a prayer room for Muslim passengers inside the station.

Security System

For passenger safety, the entire station is under CCTV surveillance, and a railway police station operates within the premises. Railway police are always on duty to ensure security and maintain order.

Smooth Ticketing Experience

The station has a large number of ticket counters. Personally, I have not seen so many ticket counters at any other station in the country. Because of this, purchasing tickets here is relatively convenient and faster.

Restaurant & cafeteria

Previously, there was a railway hotel attached to the station where very tasty food was served. When I traveled to Dhaka by train with my family, we often ate there after getting off the train. The food quality was quite good. Currently, several cafeterias are available where passengers can buy snacks and refreshments.

Easy Parking & City Transport

Kamalapur Railway Station has a large parking area where vehicles can be parked easily. From just outside the station, various types of transport are available to reach different parts of the capital city

Personal Opinion & Suggestions

Personally, I am quite satisfied with the services of Kamalapur Railway Station. However, the security system should be made stronger, and the facilities should be more consistent. More drinking water taps should be installed. There is a toilet outside the station, but having at least one washroom inside would be very helpful. Since the station is very large, going outside the station takes time. A modern and well-maintained washroom facility would greatly improve the passenger experience.

Overall, the facilities of Kamalapur Railway Station are quite good. With a few improvements, this station can offer even better service and comfort to passengers.
