Assalamu'alaikum my stemian friends, Hope you are fine and having a nice day. Here I want to share you my little funny story.
Last weekend , a day before we took Adib back to his pesantren, I took my family to visit Gramedia in Banda Aceh. It was one of those trips where the plan is to pick up school supplies, some books, and stationery, pretty normal for a teacher dad. But there was a small twist: my salary hadn’t arrived yet. Classic ASN mood at the start of the year. The wallet wanted to buy, but the bank account was still waiting.

Because the money was tight, I told myself to just look. But the eyes have a mind of their own. I saw a few interesting titles, some colorful notebooks, and a sturdy folder that would be perfect for school use. I also noticed that the store carried lots of other items beyond books, office supplies and practical things you might need at home or in school. It felt like a one‑stop place for anyone who wants to get ready for the school year, or simply restock basic supplies.

Stationeries

On the first floor, you can find a wide variety of stationery and office supplies. There are pens, markers, notebooks, envelopes, folders, and many other writing tools. Everything is neatly arranged, so it is easy to find what you need. The shelves are clean and well organized, which makes shopping comfortable and enjoyable.
The place looked large, clean, and fully stocked, exactly what you expect from a big bookstore chain. Shelves of books, rows of notebooks, pens, folders, and all kinds of study tools lined up neatly. The atmosphere felt calm, not loud or crowded, even though it was bright and busy enough. You could slowly search your need without feeling rushed.

Bags section

Besides stationery, Gramedia also sells bags and travel items. There are backpacks, sling bags, pouches, and suitcases in different sizes and colors. Some well-known brands like Eiger and Kalibre are also available here. The designs look modern and stylish, suitable for students, workers, and travelers. You can also find hats and other small accessories that are practical for daily use.

Urban Bags

This section feels different from the others. The products here are clearly branded, and you can see the difference right away in both quality and price. The bags look more premium, made from better materials, with neat stitching and strong zippers.
Compared to regular bags, these branded items are more durable and stylish. You don’t just buy a bag here, you buy comfort, durability, and brand value. That is why the price is higher. This section is perfect for people who care about long-term use and good appearance.

Another interesting part on the first floor is the electronic section. Gramedia sells printers, ink, and other office-related electronic products. This is very helpful, especially for people who work in offices or students who need printing equipment for school projects.

Sport Equipments

After that, I moved to another section where Gramedia provides home sports equipment. There were items like treadmills for exercise at home. In the same area, I also saw guitars for music lovers. It was interesting to see that Gramedia does not only sell books and stationery, but also supports hobbies like sports and music.

Second Floor, Books Collection

I went up to the second floor and saw a very complete book collection. The books were neatly arranged by category. There were fiction books, non-fiction books, and many best sellers as well.
However, once again I checked my banking app, and because my salary had not come in yet, I finally decided to buy only an Al-Qur’an priced at IDR 137,000.

Sometimes, the best moments in a big store are not the biggest purchases, but the small, quiet choices. Today, Gramedia was more than a shop, it was a calm, practical stop on a busy week, a place to remember that learning and preparation don’t always need a full wallet, just a clear mind and a patient heart.
