Assalamu’alaikum my friends…

A few days before Ramadan, my family and I went out for dinner around Krukueh. The night was calm, and the streets were still lively. Suddenly, the sound of the Isya adhan echoed beautifully through the air. Without hesitation, we decided to stop and pray at Masjid Bujang Salim in Krueng Geukeuh , one of the iconic mosques in the area.
From the outside, the mosque looks majestic, especially at night when the lights illuminate its detailed Islamic architecture. The design combines elegant arches, artistic carvings, and grand domes that make it stand out. The parking arrangement is well organized, car parking is located outside the mosque’s main yard, while motorcycle parking is available inside the courtyard, making it convenient for visitors.

Inside, the mosque feels peaceful and calming. The mihrab and mimbar are beautifully designed with colorful Islamic ornament patterns. The large pillars and high ceiling create a sense of openness and grandeur. The marble floor is clean and cool, adding extra comfort during prayer.

The first thing that captures attention is the grand dome ceiling. The inner dome is decorated with geometric Islamic patterns combined with dominant blue, green, and gold tones. The design feels both majestic and calming. Hanging beneath the dome is a large chandelier that enhances the elegance of the prayer hall. When the lights reflect off the white marble floor, the entire space feels bright, clean, and peaceful.

The mihrab is beautifully crafted with colorful ornamentation. Green and gold patterns frame the qibla wall, while Arabic calligraphy details add a spiritual atmosphere. The wooden mimbar beside it stands tall with detailed carvings, giving a classic Islamic touch. The combination of colors, turquoise, green, gold, and white, makes the front area visually striking yet still beuatiful.

There is a corridor (selasar) on the right outer side of the mosque that leads to the ablution area. The wudhu area is spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The water flows smoothly, and the floor is not slippery, which makes it comfortable and safe for worshippers.

Outside, one of the most iconic features is the tall tower (minaret) standing proudly in the mosque’s courtyard. At night, the tower is beautifully illuminated, making it visible from a distance. The design is modern yet still maintains Islamic architectural identity. Around the base of the tower, palm trees and open space add to the aesthetic beauty of the mosque’s exterior. Masjid Bujang Salim is not just a place for prayer, it is an architectural landmark and a symbol of community pride.

After performing Isya prayer, our hearts felt lighter and calmer. There is something different about praying together as a family before continuing the night. The peaceful atmosphere inside the mosque, the beautiful recitation, and the serenity of the congregation made the evening feel complete. It was as if the busy thoughts from the day slowly faded away.

Right after leaving the mosque, we headed to a simple nasi uduk stall located along Jalan Medan – Banda Aceh. Nothing esthetic, just a roadside food stall with warm lights, plastic chairs, and the inviting aroma of coconut rice drifting through the night air.
That night reminded me of something important:
When you answer the call to prayer first, everything that comes after feels more blessed.
Pray first. Then enjoy the world. It tastes better that
