A Son’s Gift to His Father: The Story Behind Mushalla Haji Ramli

Sometimes, the most meaningful stories are not written in loud words or grand buildings, but in quiet places filled with sincere intentions. In a simple corner of Panggoi, Lhokseumawe, a small mushalla stands calmly, carrying a story of love, remembrance, and a son’s devotion to his late father.

This story comes from a quiet area in Panggoi Village, Lhokseumawe. In this peaceful place, there stands a small and simple mushalla called Mushalla Haji Ramli. At first glance, it may look ordinary, but behind it lies a powerful story of love, respect, and remembrance.
The mushalla was built by a young man named Feri Iswadi, as a heartfelt gift for his late father, Almarhum Haji Ramli. Instead of choosing something temporary or personal, he decided to build a place of worship, something that could benefit many people for years to come. Through this simple building, he transformed love for his father into a form of continuous charity.

The mushalla is located very close to the pond area, making it easy for workers, neighbors, and guest to stop, rest, and pray. Inside, the mushalla feels calm and peaceful. The clean floor, strong pillars, good air circulation, and natural light create a comfortable place for worship. It is not luxurious, but it is sincere, and that sincerity can be felt the moment you step inside.

Feri's Pond
From Shrimp Pond to Prayer Space: A Legacy Built with Sincerity

Feri manages a shrimp pond that was inherited from his late father. The pond is located in a residential area in Panggoi, where people live and work every day. While continuing his father’s work, Feri thought about how to turn his success into something more meaningful. He realized that business and worship should walk together. From this thought, the idea to build a mushalla near the shrimp pond was born.

Building Faith, Not Just Business

This mushalla is not only a place to pray. It is also a symbol of devotion from a child to his parent. Feri did not only continue his father’s business, but he also continued his father’s values. By building this mushalla, he turned his father’s legacy into sadaqah jariyah, a continuous charity that will keep giving rewards even after death.

“A Small Mushalla, A Big Meaning”

The message from this story is very clear. Wealth is not only for enjoyment, but also for responsibility. When we use our blessings to help others and bring people closer to God, our life becomes more meaningful. A simple building, when built with sincere intention, can become an eternal investment.

Moral lesson

Mushalla Haji Ramli teaches us that honoring our parents does not end when they pass away. Through good deeds, prayers, and useful contributions to society, their names can continue to live on. This mushalla stands as proof that a sincere heart and good intention can create something far more valuable than money: lasting goodness.

Me and Feri

As his friend, I honestly feel a kind of jealousy. Not because I was not born into a wealthy family, and not because he has money at a young age. I feel jealous of his attitude. Even with success and wealth, he never forgot his father. He chose to remember him not only with words, but with a meaningful action that will continue to give benefits to others.
This story reminds us that true success is not about how much we have, but about how we use it. Honoring our parents is not limited by time, age, or status. Through sincerity and good intentions, even a simple act can become a lasting legacy, one that speaks long after we are gone.
