Performing Ashar prayer at Al-Ihsan Mosque after flooded

Yesterday afternoon, after returning from school, I went back to Lhoksukon with my family to check on my brother’s house which was affected by the flood.

Even though the situation there wasn’t as severe as in other areas where houses were swept away, the water still reached up to one meter inside the house. Some furniture even “learned to swim” as they floated and soaked in the muddy water.

After helping clean the house and making sure everything was safe, the call for Ashar prayer echoed. We immediately headed to the nearest mosque in our village Masjid Al Ihsan, located in Matang Ubi, Lhoksukon.

The mosque was also affected by the flood, but fortunately only its courtyard was submerged. Despite that, the mosque stood gracefully and remained a peaceful place for worship. The signs of the flood were still obvious. The parking area was covered with dried mud marks from the water that had receded.

At the wudhu area, the water wasn’t as clear as usual because the electricity supply was still unstable and the pump couldn’t run properly. Even so, the place had been cleaned and remained usable for the jama’ah who came to pray.

Inside the mosque, the atmosphere was calm and comforting. The simple wooden Mimbar and modest mihrab showed how the mosque stood not for luxury, but for devotion and togetherness. Despite the flood, the mosque remained a steadfast place for worship, a reminder that faith stays strong even when nature tests us.

Alhamdulillah… after a tiring day, Allah still gave us a peaceful place to bow down and pray.
