Istiqomah Mosque
Assalamualaikum my stemian friends, Have a nice day. Let me share you my little story.
Yesterday, on our way to Banda Aceh, we experienced a journey that really trained our patience. Along the road, we had to face a very long queue at Kutablang Bridge.

Trafic jam before kutablang bridge
The traffic was extremely crowded, and cars barely moved. We waited for almost three hours just to cross the bridge. It was tiring, but we tried to stay calm and enjoy the moment. Sometimes, traveling is not only about reaching the destination, but also about learning patience along the way.

Crossing tge bridge
After finally crossing Kutablang Bridge, we felt relieved. Without wasting time, we decided to take a break and perform Friday prayer at Masjid Jami Istiqomah Ulee Turun Kutablang. The mosque is located right beside the Medan–Banda Aceh road, so it is very easy to find. For travelers, this mosque is a perfect place to stop, rest, and pray.

Istigomah Mosque
When we arrived, the first impression was very positive. The mosque looks clean, neat, and well-maintained. The prayer hall is spacious and comfortable. The floor was clean, and the atmosphere felt calm and peaceful, perfect for worship after a long and tiring journey.

The parking area is another good point. It is wide and can accommodate many vehicles, including cars and buses. This is very helpful, especially during Friday prayer when many people come at the same time. There was no stress about finding a parking spot.

Ablution area and little garden
The ablution (wudhu) area was also clean and well taken care of. Water flowed smoothly, and the area did not feel slippery or dirty. This shows that the mosque management really pays attention to cleanliness and comfort for worshippers.

The mihrab of the mosque is simple but elegant. Its design is neat, with soft colors that create a calm atmosphere. The mihrab clearly marks the direction of prayer and becomes a strong visual focus inside the mosque. The mimbar (pulpit) is made of wood with beautiful carvings. It looks sturdy and artistic, showing traditional Islamic design that adds character to the mosque interior.

Wonen area
For female worshippers, the women’s prayer area is separated using curtain fabric (kain gorden). This provides privacy and comfort while still allowing a peaceful prayer environment. The arrangement feels respectful and practical, especially during Friday prayer.

Inner dome view
When looking up, the dome creates a sense of openness and calm. Its design is simple yet elegant, adding a spiritual feeling to the prayer hall. The dome also helps create good air circulation and natural light inside the mosque.

Wooden gazebo
In one corner of the mosque yard, near the parking area, there is a small wooden gazebo/pavilion. It is simple, but very meaningful. This wooden hut becomes a resting place for mothers who are not able to perform prayer. They can sit, relax, and wait comfortably while others are inside the mosque.
The gazebo is clean and well placed. Surrounded by fresh air and an open yard, it feels calm and peaceful. This small facility shows that the mosque is not only focused on worship activities, but also cares about the comfort of all visitors, including women, elderly people, and travelers.

Overall, small details like this wooden pavilion make Masjid Jami Istiqomah Ulee Turun Kutablang even more special. It is not only clean and beautiful, but also thoughtful and welcoming. A mosque that truly understands the needs of its visitors.

After finishing our prayer, we continued our journey to Banda Aceh with a fresh mind and a lighter heart. The short rest and peaceful atmosphere of the mosque helped us regain our energy. Sometimes, a simple stop to pray and rest is enough to make a long journey feel easier and more meaningful.
Hopefully my little story can be useful for all of you who need to stop for praying or just taking rest on you hard trip.
