Hello my stemian friends, This morning, after performing Shubuh prayer, I found myself revisiting one of the most legendary coffee spots in Banda Aceh with my sons(Adib and abizar) , Solong Coffee Ulee Kareng. This is not just a coffee shop; it is a historical landmark. From this very place, the term “kupi Ulee Kareng” was born and later became widely known across Aceh and Indonesia. Almost every coffee lover agrees on one thing: the taste here is truly legendary.(Since 1976).

As soon as you step inside, don’t expect an aesthetic cafe filled with warm lighting, modern decor, or Instagram-worthy corners. The place is very simple and modest. Plastic chairs, ordinary tables, and a straightforward layout dominate the space. Yet, this simplicity is exactly where its strength lies. Solong Coffee doesn’t sell atmosphere, it sells authentic taste and consistency.

Interestingly, despite the very ordinary setting, the price here is considered premium. However, very few people complain. From the beginning, visitors understand that what they are paying for is not the decor or the comfort of the seats, but the quality of the coffee itself. And in that sense, the price feels justified, even reasonable when compared to the depth of flavor and the long-standing reputation behind every cup.
