The Famous Chips from Cek Sam , Now Growing Quieter

A few months ago, I was traveling along this route before the Padang Tiji Toll Road was officially opened, and I stopped here to buy some chips as souvenirs while enjoying a short, refreshing break from the journey.
For many years, Saree was a must-stop point for travelers going back and forth between Banda Aceh and Medan. Buses, private cars, and motorcycles would pass through this route, and snack centers like Cek Sam Keripik Dapur thrived because of the constant flow of visitors.

But for those who still choose the old road, Saree remains a nostalgic and meaningful stop. Places like Cek Sam Keripik Dapur continue to serve visitors with the same warmth, tasty chips, and comfortable resting spot as before.

Inside, there is also a small cafe corner where visitors can enjoy coffee while taking a short break. The seating area is simple but comfortable, making it a nice place to relax after a long drive. The service is quick, warm, and very helpful when you ask about the products.

It may not be as crowded as it once was, but the quality, hospitality, and charm are still there, waiting for travelers who value the journey, not only the destination.

From the outside, the shop looks bright and inviting, especially at night when the lights make it easy to spot from the road. There is a spacious parking area, so buses, cars, and motorcycles can stop comfortably. As soon as you step inside, you are welcomed by friendly staff and the delicious aroma of freshly prepared snacks.

What makes this place special is the impressive display of traditional chips packed in large transparent bags. You can find various kinds of chips such as banana chips, cassava chips, and many other local specialties. Everything looks clean, neatly arranged, and ready to take home as souvenirs.

However, since the toll road opened, the situation has changed.
Many travelers now prefer the toll road because it is faster and more practical. As a result, fewer vehicles pass through the old Saree route, and the area is not as busy as it used to be. The roadside stalls are quieter, and the lively atmosphere that once defined Saree has slowly faded.
