Japanese Restaurant
Assalamu'alaikum my stemian friends, This time I would like to share my little experience visiting banda Aceh About a week before the flood in Aceh. We went to Banda Aceh to visit Adib at his pesantren. After picking him up, we decided to spend some time walking around the city.
Suzuya Banda Aceh
Our short trip brought us to Suzuya Banda Aceh in Seutui. After buying some daily needs for Adib, hunger came naturally, and we decided to stop by Marugame Udon for Lunch.
Marugame Udon
This was our very first time eating here. To be honest, we came mostly out of curiosity. We had heard about this place many times, but never really tried it before. The restaurant looked clean and modern, with an open kitchen concept that made us feel comfortable. Everything looked neat, and the atmosphere was calm enough for a family meal.

When it came to choosing the menu, I had no idea what to order. There were many options, and I didn’t understand most of them. So, I left that part to my wife. She ordered two bowls of noodles, and we also took some side dishes like tempura and fried patties. Simple choices, just enough for a small family.

One thing that caught our attention was the drink system. To save money, we only took one glass. Here, drinks are counted per glass, but you can refill as much as you want using the same glass. For us, this was a smart and economical option, especially since we were not very thirsty.

The food arrived quite fast brought by my wife. The noodles were soft, the toppings were light, and the overall taste was okay. It was clean, simple, and comforting. Adib enjoyed his meal and seemed happy, which made the moment more meaningful for us.

However, if we are being completely honest, for our Acehnese taste, Mie Aceh still feels more delicious than the noodles here. Maybe it’s because we grew up with strong spices and rich flavors. Still, trying something new was a good experience, and it helped us satisfy our curiosity.

In the end, this visit was not just about food. It was about spending time together, sharing a simple meal, and creating memories before everything changed with the flood. Not every meal has to be perfect, sometimes, it just needs to be honest, warm, and meaningful.
