Humanity First, Human First | A Small Reminder to Myself

Hello Steemians 👋
Today I just want to write something simple. Not technical. Not about crypto. Not about markets. Just something from the heart.
“Humanity first.”
We say this line very easily. I have said it many times too. But if I am honest… I don’t always practice it the way I should.
In our daily life, especially here in Pakistan, we see so many divisions. Language, caste, sect, political party, rich and poor. Sometimes even in small villages people stop talking to each other over tiny misunderstandings. And then we all claim we are good humans.
But are we really putting humanity first?
Last week I was at the market. A small boy, maybe 9 or 10 years old, was carrying heavy vegetable bags for customers. He looked tired. I noticed him but at first I ignored it. I was busy on my phone. Then suddenly I felt a little shame inside. Why am I pretending I didn’t see him? I called him and gave him some extra money. It was not a big amount. But the smile on his face… I can’t explain that feeling.
That day I realized something. Humanity is not about big speeches. It is about small actions.
We all respect big names, big personalities. But real humanity is shown in normal life.
When you forgive someone even though your ego is hurt.
When you control your anger.
When you help someone without posting it everywhere.
Sometimes I think social media has made us show-off humans. We record everything. If we give charity, we need a picture. If we help someone, we need proof. Why? If intention is pure, Allah knows. That should be enough.
Another thing I notice is how easily we judge people. Someone dresses differently — we judge. Someone talks differently — we judge. Someone has less money — we ignore. But what if tomorrow we are in their position?
Life changes very fast.
I remember during Ramadan last year, in the masjid, there was a man who looked very poor. His clothes were not clean. Some people avoided sitting near him. But when dua time came, I saw him crying deeply. That moment hit me hard. Maybe he was closer to Allah than all of us.
Who are we to measure someone’s value?
Human first means:
Respect before religion debates
Kindness before arguments
Listening before reacting
Understanding before judging
It sounds simple but it is actually difficult. Even I fail many times. I get angry. I reply harshly. Later I regret it.
Maybe this post is more a reminder to myself than to anyone else.
If we truly start seeing each other as humans first — not labels — our society will slowly improve. Not suddenly. Not magically. But step by step.
We cannot fix the whole world. I cannot. You cannot.
But I can control how I treat one person today.
You can control how you speak to someone tomorrow.
And maybe that is enough to start.
Thank you for reading my random thoughts today. If you have any personal experience where you chose humanity over ego, share it in the comments. I would really like to read.
Stay kind. Stay human. 🤝
