APPS I USE FOR VIDEO EDITING/MOTION DESIGN.

When I first started learning video editing, I thought I needed an expensive computer and a lot of professional software before I could become good at it.

But with time, I realized something: the most important thing is to start with what you have.

I currently do a lot of my learning and practice with my phone. It isn't the most powerful device, and sometimes editing on it can be frustrating, but it has still allowed me to learn a lot.

So today, I want to share some of the apps I use to learn and practice video editing.

This is the main app I use to edit and it's responsible for the motion design.

In Alight Motion You can do this like:

Keyframes
Shape animations
Text animation
Graphs and easing
Motion effects
Simple transitions
Logo Animation
Etc etc.

I'm still learning, especially when it comes to motion graphics, but I like using Alight Motion because it gives me room to experiment.

Sometimes I'll create a very simple animation just to understand how something works.
I started by learning every thing in the app one by one to understand that particular function you can also.

CapCut is another app I use for editing.

It's useful when I want to Edit things like:

Short-form videos
Talking-head edits
Captions
Transitions
Effects
Basic sound design

I also use it to study how different editing styles work.

Sometimes I see an edit online and think, “How did they do that?”

Instead of just watching it, I try to recreate something similar.

That's one of the ways I learn.

Technically, YouTube isn't an editing app, but it has probably been one of my biggest learning tools.

Whenever I don't understand something, I search for it.

For example:

“How to animate text in Alight Motion”

or

“How to make smooth shape animations”

or even:

“How do professional editors use sound effects?”

There are so many tutorials available that I can usually find someone explaining what I'm struggling with.

Everything is free to learn on YouTube, most of the professional design is usually broken down freely on YouTube for you to learn and study.

The important thing I've learned is that watching tutorials isn't enough.

You have to actually open your editing app and try it yourself.

Pinterest might sound strange for video editing, but I use it mainly for inspiration.
It has the most beautiful Animations you can ever find (there are other apps to find inspirations from but this is my go to)

I look for:

Motion graphics ideas
Typography
Colour combinations
Poster designs
UI designs
Advertisement ideas
Logo Animations idea

Sometimes I don't copy the design. I just look at it and ask myself:

“How could I create something like this as a video?”

That question alone can give me ideas for new projects.

This one is very simple, but I use it a lot.

Whenever I get an idea for a video, I write it down.

It could be an idea for a fictional brand advertisement, a motion graphics exercise, or even an idea for a Steemit post.

Writing down your Motion Designs ideas can help when editing it, it already helps you in the thought process and you already know what you want to do and how you want to do it

I've realized that ideas can disappear very quickly if you don't write them down.

So whenever something comes to my mind, I try to save it.

One thing my video editing journey has taught me is that equipment can make things easier, but it shouldn't always be the reason you don't start.

You might not have the best phone.

You might not have a laptop.

You might not have expensive software.

But if you have something you can use to practice, you can start learning.

I'm still a learner myself. Not as a beginner cause no one is ever a full master and learning never ends.

Every time I open my editing app and create something new, I'm a little better than I was before.

And honestly, that's enough motivation to keep going. ❤️
