SHOOT DAY WITH MY BROTHERS: BEHIND THE LAUGHTER WE CREATE 21/09/2026
Hello beautiful Steemians,
Today was not a boring day day for me. Today was shoot and fun day. As a content creator, I am used to being indoors editing and working on our project, but today, I had to go out with my brothers to shoot a skit comedy video.
The Morning Preparation
I woke up 7:42am. My younger brother, Vincent, was already shouting, "Camera battery don come down?" My elder brother, Emma, was arranging his costume. Me? I was still in my bed writing the final script on my phone. Our content was simple, a story about a ghost who appears to scare people.
We checked everything. Camera, make sure the battery is full, tripod, power bank, small speaker for playback. The life of a low-budget creator is not easy, but we manage.
The Location Wahala
Our location was a family friend beer parlor in Makurdi. We wanted a typical village setting. At first, the sun was too harsh. Then our neighbour's chicken and goats kept entering our set. We had to chase them like 10 times. At a point, we were all laughing so hard.
This is the part people don't see behind funny skits. The retakes, the sweat, the "cut, cut, cut, you messed up again" and the pain under sun, rain and making sure to remember your line.
How We Work As Brothers
What I love about shooting with my siblings is the natural chemistry. We don't need to act too much because we already fight and play like that in real life. Vincent is the funny one who always forgets his line and adds his own. Emma is the serious one. I am the one behind the camera shouting "Action!" And the editing of the videos.
We shot for almost 4 hours for a video that will not be more than 6 minutes. We did over 15 takes for one particular scene where I was supposed to fall into a gutter when chase by a ghost. Everyone wanted a perfect fall.
The Final Result
After the shoot, we sat under the cashew tree, watched the raw clips and nodded with agreement praising ourselves. We were tired, sweaty, but satisfied. That feeling when you create something together from nothing is priceless.
We are not a big crew. We are just three brothers with one Camera and a dream to make people laugh. Small beginnings they say.
