Home-Cooked Heart
Hello, users. Long time no posts as did not have any strengh for creation. But a couple of days ago I visited my dad who lives alone now and cooked for him in his house while he was at work.
Why not just bring ready meal?
- Because food that's merely brought in is just food. But a home where cooking has been done feels and comes alive. It becomes infused with aromas and warmth. When you enter a house where food was recently prepared, you sense the warmth and coziness that arise during cooking.
So. I decided to marinate and grill some meat and bake krendels. Do you know what krendels are? They're a pastry made from simple yeast dough that's soaked in butter and sugar. Simple, homemade, but tasty.
First I mixed the dough and set it aside to rest.
While it was rising, I marinated the meat in garlic and seasonings.
When some time past, I rolled out the dough, brushed it with butter, sprinkled it with sugar and cinnamon, rolled it up, folded it, сut, opened it up—and voilà! Our little heart is ready to go into the oven.
While my "hearts" were in the oven I fried the meat.
It was ready just in time.
Welcome home, dad.
