BENEFIT OF SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP

A young man came to us in dire physical straits. Among other things, he suffered from hepatitis, a common problem among drug addicts, contracted by using a dirty needle when injecting a shot of heroin into their veins. We helped him get admitted into the hospital, which turned out to be a difficult project in spite of his apparent suffering.
Later he returned to Teen Challenge to enter the rehabilitation programme. But while he was in the hospital various staff members visited him, took him slippers, newspapers, candy, reading material and other things.
The fact that he was being treated kindly even before he had come to Teen Challenge, and even before he had accepted Christ, was more than he could understand. He said, "l've never had anyone do anything like that for me ever in my whole life. You people were total strangers, and you treated me like an old friend."
Such simple acts of kindness are often the wedges into a Mann's soul. Even the most simple deeds can mean so much.
