Why I Signed the Declaration of Currency Independence - Essay Series #003 - Fork-in-the-Road Edition
Very few moments in life can be considered defining points that truly impact the individual’s future; a metaphorical fork in the road of life in which a single action must be chosen, impacting the rest of a life’s story. It is said that being able to recognize these moments as they present themselves is a critical factor to having true control over one’s life.
Personally, looking back throughout my life, there have been very few of these pivotal moments, most of which I recognized well after the event. Signing the Declaration of Currency Independence was one of the very few I’ve had in my life. Now, life will never be the same.
More importantly, society has similar defining events. Throughout human history, single events have changed its course forever- irreversibly. The rise and fall of the Roman Empire; the rise of religion, Adam Smith’s Capitalism writings; Gutenburg’s Printing Press, the United States’ Declaration of Independence- just to name a few.
Recently, we’ve experienced one of these defining moments in history, one which will be seen as an event that had changed society’s course forever: The release of The Declaration of Currency Independence. As history will show, it will dwarf many of the defining moments before it, in both speed and scope of impact.
The “promises” of The Declaration are grand and life-altering, but they are far from guaranteed. Similar to the United States penning its own Declaration, its authors realized the ideals expressed wouldn’t come without cost- and they were willing to fight for their beliefs.
We now face the same choice with the Declaration of Currency Independence. Are we committed enough to fight for the ideals laid within? When the time comes, how long will we stand up for The People – our “citizens”- regardless of personal costs?
We, The People, have been entrusted with powerful technology enabling us to design our own future. One consisting of remaining in our subtle shackles, or one of individual freedoms and liberty. The choice has now been placed in our hands.
I signed the Declaration because I have hope for a brighter future, and I’m willing to fight for this. Fighting for the generations that follow; for my family and friends; for my fellow man; for a future society that is liberated from false hopes and misunderstood freedoms.
While the media and current events have divided us all, the Declaration has the potential to unite humanity. No matter our differences - we are all entrusted with the same tomorrow. We are the same. We all have an obligation to design a future that we are proud to leave behind.
At this defining moment in history, and a defining moment in life, I choose Freedom. And I will fight for it, at any cost.
Why did I sign? I did so as a symbol of dedication to fight.
I signed to fight for you; for your children; for humanity.
