RE: Ethereum passes Bitcoin for active users for the first time

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

It should be mentioned that active addresses does not map directly to active users. Anyone with a HD wallet type would be using nearly as many addresses as they do transactions. They likely correlate, but we'll never know how strong that correlation actually is.

While true, this is same on both sides so should be somewhat relative but really who knows.

It's true on both sides, but we don't know to what degree. For example what proportion of users use HD wallets on Bitcoin vs. Ethereum? It's not measurable, although it could be estimated by someone who knows both spaces well.

I hear ya, it is kind of arbitrary, that's why I mentioned it's questionable if it really means anything. It is interesting though but could be absolutely meaningless.
