Checking Out the Wall Street Journal’s Profile of Olaf Carlson-Wee
For those that aren’t familiar with Olaf Carlson-Wee he was Coinbase’s first employee.
And then he went on to found Polychain Capital, a crypto hedge fund that made a lofty 2,303% return last year.
The Wall Street Journal recently did a good profile on Olaf, which you can find here.
Some excerpts are below.
One thing to know about Olaf, he’s only 29. Forbes named him one of their 30 Under 30 in Finance.
He was able to turn just over 14k into $150 million by going all-in on cryptocurrencies. Obviously, his timing was impeccable.
With Polychain Capital, while 2017 was a fantastic year, it’s been tougher sledding in 2018. His fund has been down as much as 40%. But all things considered, that’s much better than the overall crypto market.
The article has a lot of details on Olaf’s background and idiosyncrasies, such as how went he started at Coinbase he only owned one pair of pants.
You can find out why he recently cut off his mullet as well.
Suffice to say, Olaf is a unique character. For all the details check out the WSJ article.
